The Wisley Action Group have recently launched their new website to keep local people aware of the issues involved with the potential development of over 2500 homes at the Three Farms Meadows formerly the disused Wisley Airfield.
Although not at a planning application stage at the moment, it has been included in the Guildford Borough Council's Issues and Options consultation so it does pose a real threat to Green Belt which is less than 3 miles from Cobham.
The Wisley Action Group (WAG) has identified the developer as a Cayman-registered property company backed by a hedge-fund company. The developer has set up a website (wisleyairfield.com) to promote the development of this 300 acre site and WAG say the developers PR company have also mailed a brochure to lots of councils around Guildford saying that if they support this proposal, it will 'solve their development problem' – in other words, save them from having to build houses in their own area. WAG have contested many of the claims made in the brochure and these can be seen here
If this huge Green Belt site was developed it would set a dangerous precedent for all Green Belt in the surrounding area.
