We can alert you through our newsletter or via this website when planning applications have been submitted or public consultations are open which affect the local Green Belt. When a planning application has been submitted or a public consultation is taking place, you can write to the appropriate local Planning departments shown below and make your views known. The websites of each planning department will provide more details of how to view planning applications in their area and how to comment.
In all cases, both written and email, you must provide your name, postal address and the reference number of the planning application concerned.
- In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any representations submitted will be made available for public inspection.
- Representations should be restricted to matters relevant to town planning such as the likely effects of the proposal on land use, local amenities and character of the area, the environment and countryside, traffic and parking.
- The effect on property values and private interests such as covenants cannot be taken into account.
Elmbridge Planning Applications
All "Letters of Representation" must be received by the council in writing and should be sent to the following address or via email:
Head of Town Planning
Elmbridge Borough Council
Planning Website: www.elmbridge.gov.uk/planning
Comments can be submitted via the Elmbridge Planning website but this can be unreliable as they have had a series of technical problems. We would recommend you send you comments via letter or email and ensure your representation is acknowledeged.
- In all cases applications will be assessed against the provisions of the Elmbridge Borough Local Plan and other relevant supplementary guidance adopted by the Council. Major applications (equivalent to 10 or more dwellings) will be reported to an Area Planning Sub Committee for decision. Minor or other applications will normally be determined by the Strategic Director - Services, under delegated authority unless there are objections from more than two households and the Director's recommendation is to permit. However, any Councillor may require these cases to be brought to an Area Sub Committee for decision.
