Five options have been put forward for the Elmbridge Borough:-
Option 1
Intensify urban area
Build 9,345 new homes hugely increasing urban densities plus utilising allotments and playing fields and relocating these to Green Belt.
Option 2
Optimise urban areas and 3 areas of Green Belt
Build 6,800 houses by increasing urban density and creating 3 large housing estates – with two in Cobham & Stoke D’Abernon. This is the same option as put forward in 2016 which was rejected.
Option 3
Optimise urban land and large Green Belt Release
Build 16,300 new homes by increasing urban densities & taking large areas of Green Belt – huge impact in our area - potentially 12 Green Belt Sites including one of 2000 homes!
Option 4
Optimise urban land and No Green Belt Sites
Build 5,300 homes in urban areas – 45% less than the Government target so effectively challenging the Government’s figures.
Option 5
Optimise urban land and release areas of Green Belt
Build 9,400 new homes and create a number of new villages in Cobham, Stoke D’Abernon, Oxshott (including one of 2,000 homes) and other areas in the borough of Elmbridge.
The five maps representing these options are shown below to illustrate the potential impact on the Cobham, Stoke D'Abernon, Oxshott and Downside areas. Click on the right and left-hand arrows to step through the options and to see the impact on our area.
